The sky is the limit and I reached it. Starfrosch and it's users currently need constantly 2-3GB RAM which makes it necessary to have a colocation server or more RAM.

I don't want to know what happens, when the SWR is sending our interview about Netlabels and internet music projects.

Our lovely provider Netstream currently checks, if we can buy more RAM and keep Starfrosch as a low cost service running. Thank you.

This takes aproximatly one month. Until then I will deactivate as many services as possible to reduce the load and make sure it runs stable.

btw: If there is a genious progammer, ISP, Sales or promotion guy reading this: Your help is appreciated to prevent the System overload

Nun, wenn zuviele User (ja genau so Typen wie du und ich) Starfrosch benutzen wollen, dann klemmts.

Warum?
Weil der Server nicht ausgelegt ist für üble Belastungsspitzen und Zeiten in denen Hordenweise User Musik hören wollen.

Und warum baut ihr nicht mehr Server ein?
Weil keiner Lust dazu hat: Es ist Samstag und morgen Sonntag. Und Montag ist dann schlechte Laune Tag.

Und wielange dauert so ein Ausfall?
Keine Ahnung, einfach bis die User wieder weg sind. Das regelt sich innerhalb weniger Tage von selbst.

Man hört sich....und sprich nicht immer von Usern. Zuhörer und Musiker sind passendere Worte.

Es wurde ja auch langsam Zeit, dass es den MYSQL Server wiedermal abhängt. Zwischen 18:00 und 19:00 herrscht schliesslich Hochbetrieb.

Abwarten und Tee trinken ist die ideale Massnahme gegen Erkältung. Vieleicht noch etwas Honig beigeben, damit wir gerüstet sind für die Heuschnupfenpollensaison, die im Frühling bestimmt kommt. Wir sind sicher: Die Sonne wird wieder scheinen.

In New York scheint die Starfrosch Sonne übrigens immer, so für alle, die es kaum noch aushalten. Oder so.

Die Podcast Feeds laufen gemütlich weiter.

Nachdem uns der Oberverkäufer unseres Providers Hostpoint zugesichert hat, uns bei der Lösung der Probleme behilflich zu sein, geschieht nichts mehr. Keine Bewegung. Kein Telefon. Kein Mail. Seit Stunden Funkstille bei Hostpoint. Die Telefonische Nachfrage wird mit "Vieleicht heute nachmittag mal" beantwortet.

Das einzig sichtbare ist ein 403 Forbidden auf starfrosch.

Ein neuer Server und schon wieder Probleme. Bei den Wachstum ist das auch einwenig verständlich. Sowas von SauPlöt und irgendwie ärgerlich auch. Die nächsten Planungsschritte sind bereits eingeleitet, doch dies dauert einen Moment, bis diese umgesetzt werden können. Bis dahin: Relax und dranbleiben.

Today i don't have much time to fix the broken things, i got a DJ set at 01:00 AM MEZ at buenz.li and my friends are moving location within Bern, Switzerland. Friends always have priority.

Heute habe ich leider nicht viel Zeit, den Starfrosch zu reparieren, da ich um 01:00 in der früh ein DJ Set an der buenz.li habe, zudem zügeln heute nachmittag meine Freunde. Dies hat Priorität.

plääääääääär. so ein riesen quark....diese mysql db fällt ja immer wieder aus....kaum zu glauben, dass da jemand arbeitet in dem betrieb. scheint ja ein dauertroubleshooting zu sein. holdri, hopp. flickt das zeugs ich mag nicht die ganze zeit blogeinträge über downtimes schreiben.

die ausfälle unseres providers hostpoint sind ja nicht wirklich toll. wöchentlich klappt die mysql db zusammen, das sind wir uns gewohnt. normalzustand.
als zusätzliches schmankerl kommt jetzt noch der ausfall von httpd (apache) dazu. langam aber sicher muss sich da was bewegen, damit die verfügbarkeit nicht ins bodenlose absackt.

Ja das ist unser Provider. Hostpoint.ch . Und immer wenn da ein schicker Artikel wie im Spiegel oder Tagesanzeiger auftaucht und mehr als 100 Leute gleichzeitung den Frosch besuchen wollen, dann lassen die die MySQL Datenbank abschmieren. Finden wir schlecht, weil dies nämlich in letzter Zeit ziemlich viel vorkommt.

phpbb not = pnphpbb

today i noticed that the forum did no longer work. wondering why i took a close look and noticed that there are lots of modified files and a .htacces to prevent from the sanity worm.

it seems my provider did a automatic update of all phpbb on the server and also automaticaly updated my pnphpbb version (which is partly modified, and since december 04 patched against the sanity worm).

i notified my provider, that there are some differences between pnphpbb and phpbb and that i don't like automatic updates. tonight i will restore the old version and hopefully everything works fine again.

Some cute and bored script kids have made a layman and lame UDP attack on server 4 where our site is hosted. Hey, kids: "Go to bed and sleep now."

"-> mySQL Überlastung durch UDP Attacke auf Server 4.

Heute Morgen wurde unser Server 4 durch eine UDP Attacke überlastet.
Dabei wurde eine extrem hohe Last generiert und dadurch wurde teilweise
der mySQL Service von diesem System überlastet und konnte die Anfragen
nicht mehr korrekt verarbeiten. Die MySQL Abfragen wurden sehr langsam
und die Performance litt darunter. Wir haben sämtliche Ursachen umgehend
geprüft und das Problem lokalisieren können.

Das Problem wurde nun durch unsere Technik behoben. Wir möchten uns in
aller Form für diesen Unterbruch entschuldigen. "

I have no further informations from our provider, what they are doing or why the database is down. As soon i get some informations you will be informed here.
